Goodreads / Amazon / Blushing Books -- EXCERPT: “Looks like I’m not the only one unhappy with your long, unexplained absence.” Unable to resist, Dan pinched her chin and turned her face toward him, holding her there even though her eyes darkened with annoyance and she tried to jerk free. “In case you’ve forgotten, you can come to me with anything, tell me anything. I don’t judge, you know that, or you should.” He released her and changed the subject as her expression turned rigid. “I have a new foal, born seven months ago. Pretty little filly. You’ll have to come out and see her sometime.” Nan’s face lost her rigid irritation and her eyes lit with interest, a familiar look he was relieved to see. She loved horses, and he knew she’d always wanted one of her own, but not until she could buy enough acres to stable it herself. That was part of her independent streak that right now was causing her to remain mute on her reasons for staying away. “I’d love to.” Her rigid shoulders relaxed with the eagerness in her eyes. “Thanks. Maybe next week, after I get the shop going again. Are you still working with military parolees?” “Sure, just let me know, and yes, I hired two new guys several months ago.” The troubled vets used the time, space and work he offered to transition back into civilian life and acclimate themselves to their freedom from both drugs and prison before returning to their loved ones or heading out on their own. Of the previous eight men he’d sponsored, only one had lapsed bad enough he’d ended up back on drugs. Gertie returned with their orders and Dan shoved aside his curiosity and concern to savor spending time with Nan again. The instant rush of excitement upon seeing her again felt damned good, his relief when Connor called to tell him she was back palpable. Even though he itched to get to the bottom of her trouble, he refrained from pushing too hard. He’d run up against the brick wall of her stubborn independence before and didn’t relish starting their reunion on a negative note. They spoke of everything except about the months she was away and the reason for her extended visit. By the time they finished their lunch, they had rekindled their easy friendship, enjoying it almost as much as before she’d left. His impatience to discover what happened that caused those shadows under her eyes was his only regret as he stood to leave. With luck, once she submitted to him again at the club, he would be successful in getting those answers. He tossed down a generous tip and reached out to give her hair an affectionate tug, something he’d done countless times before, only to have her jerk away, as if fearing that small prick on her scalp instead of relishing it. Her face whitened and then flushed, the uncharacteristic response heightening his suspicion something dire was going on with her. Nan slid off the stool, backing away, her retreat a painful kick to his gut. “Sorry. I…” Dan laid a firm finger over her lips. “Don’t say anything unless it’s the truth.” Dropping his hand, he wasn’t surprised at the mulish set of her mouth or her silence. Sighing in disappointment, he said, “I hope you’ll join us at the club tonight. We’ve missed you.” Shaking her head, she replied, “I don’t have time, but should tomorrow night.” He nodded and turned to leave. “See you tomorrow then.” She waited until he’d taken two steps away before saying, “I’ve missed you, too, and everyone else.” He swiveled his head to look at her as he settled his hat back on and nodded. “Good to know.”

Castles in the Sand
From What’s Broken
-- EXCERPT: “I want a divorce.” The words slipped out in a stream of gloom and ambiguity. My husband, Matthew, glanced away, his mouth tight and his eyes constricted. He had no words, but I wasn’t surprised. We stared at each other like two strangers, two entirely different people—cold, distant, and doing what we needed to do in order to survive. The decision hadn’t come easy for me. For weeks, the idea of putting this limbo to rest had been on my mind. I couldn’t live like this. Neither of us was happy. “Did you hear me?” I whispered. I knew he had, but I needed confirmation. I needed some kind of response. Sad, happy, or mad, I didn’t really care, but he owed it to me. He owed me a response. “Yeah.” He hugged his legs and glared past my gaze to the wall behind me. His eyes looked dead, calculating, and cold. Much of how they had been for most of the past year.

JASON
âAre you sure about that?â I asked. âZac, I will break your balls if you tell anyone about this.â
âDude, you are the Alpha. Even if I wanted to, I couldnât.â
âGood, so donât even think about it.â
He chuckled, which pissed me off. None of this was funny. âItâs not funny.â
âNo, itâs not. I just donât understand why you feel the need to shift. Itâs not normal, dude. You can get anyone you want.â
âSo can you.â
âYeah, well, that takes all the fun out of it. No, I like doing it for a different reason.â
âNo, you like fucking around with peopleâs heads.â
âThat too,â he said.
âSo, all I have to do is clear my mind and it will work?â
He chuckled.
âHave you really never shifted before?â
âNo, Iâm not that messed up.â
âBut you want to shift with your true mate?â
âI need to find out something, thatâs all,â I lied. I was curious, and I shouldnât be. âItâs not like Iâm going to do anything to her. Iâm not that sick.â
âItâs fun, not a sickness. You should try it.â
âYeah, Iâve got responsibilities, Zac. Iâm not a pup.â
âWhatever you say, old man. Enjoy.â
If only I looked like an old man. âWait, before you hang up. Did you check the cages?â
âYes,â he whined. âOur concern is with you on the cruise ship. Dom is the one you should be worried about, not us. Weâll be fine. You just concentrate on your shift, and like I said, enjoy.â He put the phone down.
Zac was Isaacâs twin and a huge fucking player when it came to the opposite sex.
He hardly slept with humans, but what he does is worse. He shifts.
Shifting was not what it sounded like. It was a term we used when we tried to gain control over a situation or gather information. I think that ability came from our vampire side, since some of them could really fuck you up when they got in your head.
Zac used it to seduce human women.
He would present himself in the form of a dream, which was what we called shifting.
The reason I wanted to shift with Morgan was because I was curious about her. I couldnât deny it.
Iâd stepped back the past three days, thinking it would be easier, but I could see that Iâd made her uncomfortable. She wasnât as bubbly as the first night.
That only piqued my curiosity.
I should just talk to her, but that could backfire. It might make me fall hard for her, and I didnât want that to happen.
That was why I opted to shift. I could ease my curiosity, and leave her thinking sheâd just dreamed of me. No harm done. Except, it might make things between us even more awkward than they already were.
Just thinking about shifting tonight was turning my stomach into knots.
I didnât want anyone to know, because I couldnât lie. My face always told the truth, and I usually admitted to things before I could get caught. I hated that I couldnât lie, but I figured it came with age. Lying was senseless when you were my age. But I could not tell Morgan the truth. She could never know what I was. So, hopefully, my curiosity about her would disappear tonight.
MORGAN
I left the bar and made it to my bed, grimacing when I saw the time on my clock. Two a.m. These late nights had to stop because they were starting to take their toll on me, but I was happy to have caught up with Kate. Weâd made plans to go to the carnival in Rio de Janeiroâour next port after the one tomorrowâsince it had always been on my bucket list.
I fell asleep faster than I thought I would, only to wake up to the sound of my door opening.
A tall figure walked in. I paid no attention as it was probably someone that came to visit Ashley.
I didnât close my eyes though.
It was weird that I could see him, since I usually couldnât see my hand in front of me in the darkness of the cabin.
But I could see his outline clearly, just not his face.
My heart started to race. He wasnât aiming for Ashley; he came straight to me.
I switched on my light as he came to my side and found . . . Jason.
âDude, what the fuck are you doing here?â I asked with a breathless chuckle.
His eyes widened. âThis wasnât how I had planned this. I think I should just go.â
I wanted to tell him to be quiet when I noticed that Ashleyâs bed was empty. Where was she? She had been in her bed a few minutes ago. This didnât make any sense.
âDonât, just . . . â I stopped him and sighed. Then I started to laugh again. What was I doing?
He stopped, turned around, and walked back to my bed looking scrumptious.
âDo you know how beautiful you are?â I clapped a hand over my mouth after the words had tumbled out. What was wrong with me? I never spoke without thinking.
âIâm beautiful?â
âCâmon, you know you are. Hey, whereâd Ashley go?â
He chuckled. âIâm in your room and youâre wondering where your roommate is?â
âYes, she has a big mouth and if she finds you here . . . I feel sorry for you if that happens.â
His body shook with his laughter. âWhy? Does she think Iâm beautiful, too?â
âUgh, whatever. How did you even get into my room?â
He shrugged. âIâm a guy with many talents.â
âSo I have heard.â
I looked at his hand, but it wasnât shaking anymore.
âWhatâs been up with you these past three nights? Youâve been . . . different.â
âIâm different?â he asked. âI was just about to ask you the same thing, Minx.â
I gulped, feeling my throat bobbing up and down. The way he said the nickname I had since I was a little girl was doing strange and wonderful things to my body. I let out a small chuckle.
âIâm fine,â I struggled to find the right words. âIâve just been struggling to get in bed before two. Donât know why.â
I glanced at the clock and saw it was five, then glanced back at him.
âTwo,â he asked, his voice taking on a strange tone. I glanced at the clock again. It showed it was two.
That was weird.
I looked back at Jason.
âUhm . . . what are you doing here?â
âIsnât it clear? Iâm here for a booty call.â
I nearly choked on my saliva.
âFrom me?â I asked, aghast.
âYeah.â He frowned, âWhy, whatâs wrong with you?â
âNothing, but why me?â
Something about this didnât feel real.
âJust go with it,â he said as he got into bed with me. He positioned himself on top of me, then lowered his mouth to mine and kissed me.
Was I really doing this when all heâd said was to just go with it? Was I that cheap?
I shrugged inwardly. It was Jason fucking Chase, the hottest guy I had ever set eyes on. Who cared if I was cheap?
His tongue slipped into my mouth, exploring and igniting things in me that I had never felt before. I inhaled his scent, and it sent sparks down to my lady bits.
As if he could read my mind, he slipped his hand into my panties. I knew I should have stopped him, but something inside me held onto the way he made me feel.
I wanted this.
I wanted him.
I wanted Jason Chase.
JASON
One moment I was ready to leave and then the next I was literally on top of her.
She wasnât supposed to wake up in her dream, but that just confirmed to me that she was different from any other human woman Iâd ever met. Perhaps it was because she was my mate. Whatever the reason, I didnât know.
Everything I had been contemplatingâmy feelings for her, the plans I hadâall flew out of the window when sheâd looked at me with that bewildered smile on her face.
Did this mean she was into me?
She moaned as my hand slipped over her folds, and I reveled in the fact that I was the one doing this to her. She was driving me crazy with lust. I now knew why Zac enjoyed shifting so much. This way, it felt real, but I couldnât hurt her.
I could feel it build up as she moaned in my ear. Her warm tongue lapped at my earlobe, making goosebumps flush over my skin.
She was waking things up that hadnât been awake inside me for a long time.
I felt my fangs lengthen, and though I didnât want it to happen, I couldnât stop even if my life depended on it.
âI want you so badly.â I whispered in her ear, and then the pain came.
I woke up and found myself in my cabin.
Morgan was far from my bed. Her smell wasnât real.
But the pain, oh the pain was real. What was happening?
I grunted as the pain increased. Hunching over, I clutched my stomach, trying my best not to wake up Belatar, but to no avail.
Conjuring Wrath
-- SNEAK PEEK: “Wait,” she mumbled. “How does this work?” “Scared?” My lips tipped upward. “Do you really just disappear? Is that what we’re going to do?” She pushed a palm against me. “Jesus, why are you so big?” She barely came up to my pecs, and now she was patting her hand along the hard ridges of my abs not having a clue that she was petting wrath. Delicate fingers traced over my shirt. Her small curious touch seeped through the fabric, tingling and heating every inch of skin she outlined. There I went again, being oddly overwhelmed by her. I pushed her hand away, distancing myself from the sensations she stirred. She was so small next to me. How could something so tiny affect me? “Is that an eight pack?” Her nails dug into my abdomen as she started counting, not bothered that I had already pushed her fingers away once. Fucking Hades! She was the little engine that never shut up.
