When youâre young you think you know it all. I was fortunate enough to live in a world where poverty was just something Iâd heard of, but never experienced. Until, I took a chance on the boy from the wrong side of the tracks. The chemistry undeniable. Our worlds collided and I fell hard, we both did. I needed him to stay and when he didnât, it broke my heart. So I grew up and moved on. I didnât know who I was back then, or what I was up against. But I do now. I wonât make the same mistakes.
I made mistakes, I thought I knew what I was doing. Turns out sometimes loyalty and stupidity go hand in hand. I took the one thing I needed most and I pushed her away with my actions. Sent her running in the opposite direction is more like it. When fate brings us together again, I desperately want to make things right, prove to her that Iâm not that guy anymore. Time has done nothing to put out the fire between us, but she has no plans to let me be a part of her future. Iâm about to change that.

âAre you stalking me?â
âStalking is such a harsh word. I merely like to think of them as long romantic walks that only Iâve agreed to.â He quips. His voice sings of lighthearted intent, but my guard is up.
âWhat do you want? I donât have any money on me, youâre better off following the girl in the range rover.â I point off in the distance, assuming there is another girl somewhere in a range rover, because they are a dime a dozen here.
He laughs, as if this was the last thing on his mind, as if I am merely a funny and naïve young girl.
âI donât want your money.â
Oh my god, he wants my body. Heâs totally about to pin me to a wall and take advantage of me. Iâve not prepared for anything like this. My parents kept saying I should enroll in one of those tae kwon do classes or something but I was always convinced Iâd never need to know how to karate chop in real life. I pull from my memory the scenes I can of Karate kid, basically anything with Jackie Chan like rush hour, and even that one scene of napoleon dynamite where Kip signs up for Rex-Kwon-Do. I try to wade through the memories of different movies but canât get past the part where you bow to your sensei.
